Repurposing and Safety Upgrades– Detailed and Technical Design
The project involves the extensive renovation of the former nursery, converting it into a Multi-Purpose Centre dedicated to families and early childcare.
The design is conceived to create an architectural entity that seamlessly integrates innovative technologies across the structural, mechanical, energy and architectural domains.
The objective is to harmonise the building with its natural and urban surroundings, enhancing its features and strengthening its role within the context.
The building’s orientation, external area and access points have been reconfigured in accordance with the principles of bio-architecture, bio-climatic and sustainable construction, with particular attention given to the solar trajectory.
The building to be redeveloped has not been treated merely a container for educational functions but as a symbol of the educational system and society evolution, increasingly focused on environmental sustainability. It aims to foster an awareness of sustainability among students, parents and school staff.
The requalification of educational spaces offers a valuable opportunity to reflect on the role of architecture and design in general, which can become powerful educational tools as well as instruments for urban and social regeneration.
The interior spaces have been designed with flexibility in mind, facilitating support functions for families and promoting intergenerational interaction.
Space in itself influences behaviours and relationships, making it essential to create an environment that is comfortable, stimulating and tailored to the needs of students and their educators.
