The “San Pietro” sports facility, which has always been a meeting point for the residents of Sesto Campano and neighbouring towns, for both football training and viewing matches in the Regional Excellence Championship, has a predominantly social purpose. It aims to promote integration and inclusion by promoting the core values of sport, such as respect for rules and others, equal opportunities and non-discrimination. The intervention falls within the category of facilities aimed at promoting sports equipment to address existing economic and social disparities.

The project was conceived with the aim of promoting sport as a tool for integration and socialisation, a means of collective enjoyment and community bonding. It seeks to safeguard physical and mental well-being by preventing health issues linked to sedentary lifestyles, improve public sports facilities, the services it provides and support local sports organisations firmly rooted in the territory.

The intervention involved the redevelopment of the football pitch with synthetic turf and accompanying lighting, the restoration and improvement of the perimeter fencing, the renovation of the spectator stands and the refurbishment and energy efficiency enhancement of the changing room block. The new lighting system consists of four 20-metre-high floodlight towers equipped with 16 asymmetric LED projectors of 1000 W each, delivering a luminous efficiency of 116.36 lm/W. This setup has been designed to provide an average illumination of 170 lux, enabling activities to take place during night-time hours.

The systems within the changing room block were optimised to achieve the highest efficiency standards, combining energy efficiency measures with the installation of a generator comprising an integrated system featuring a heat pump, a condensing boiler, a storage tank and solar thermal panels. These improvements were designed to restore the full functionality of the sports complex, allowing it to once again serve as a meeting and gathering point for the entire surrounding area.
